Sherry Z. Poggemeyer, age 71 of Nebraska City passed away late Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebr. City.

Sherry was born on July 17, 1946 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Virgil Henry and Mercedes “Bea“ (Esser) Poggemeyer.  She attended school in Nebraska City.

She worked at various jobs over the years, including American Meter, Campbell’s Soup (Tecumseh), Best Western, Duff’s Friendship Villa and Arnie’s Bagelicious Factory.

Sherry is survived by her brother Don Poggemeyer and wife Colleen of Nebr. City; sister Pam Jungers of Eagen, MN; sister-in-law Robin Poggemeyer of Talmage, NE; nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1959, her mother in 2003 and brother Kurt E. Poggemeyer in 2014.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2018 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.    

Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.

Remembrances may be left at  

Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City is in charge of arrangements.

I would like to express my sympathies to Sherry's family. We lost touch the past few years, but she always had a huge smile, when we did see each other. She was one strong little lady. I'm very sorry for your loss.

My husband Dennis and I want to say how sorry we are to hear this. I loved this gal! Worked with her at Campbell Soup. Got to become good friends and I would see her in Nebraska City once in a while after she left Tecumseh. RIP my friend and we will see each other again!

Gonna miss you Zoe ,walking by my house with sacks in your hands and after awhile your knees giving out on you So i would give her rides . She live about 4 blocks from me . She bought her a mobile home ,Had a rummage sale , i bought a end table & stand by my bed . She was a hard worker to . She worked with me at MCdonalds . She comes from a great family to . Love them all . Always smiling . Well smile on i can just see you with those new knees .
