About Us

In May of 1955, Charles J. Gude opened Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, NE- a lifelong dream.. His son, Thomas C. Gude joined his father in the family business in 1987 and has since purchased two additional funeral homes in Iowa; Hamburg, IA. and Riverton, IA.

Together, they have encouraged caring service and openness in all their business dealings.

When planning a funeral, please keep in mind that the funeral is for the living. The funeral is a meaningful event that can help ease the natural pain of separation from the death of a loved one. It is a time to share memories with your family and friends. It is a time when respect, concern and appreciation for a life that has been lived can be expressed sincerely. The funeral is designed to create a valuable memory picture that will bring satisfaction and comfort to the survivor’s who remain. The staff at Gude Funeral Homes feels that there are special needs that are different to each family and they are honored to serve them.

They ask that you make your family’s needs known to them so they can make the funeral as meaningful as possible for your family.

Gude Funeral Homes thanks you in advance for calling on them. They promise to serve you as they would want their families served during this trying time.
