Patricia Mae (Bedford) Smith

Patricia M. Smith, age 74 of Nebraska City passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024 at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.

Patricia Mae Smith was born on May 28, 1949 in Chicago, IL; the daughter of Joseph C. and Nell A. (White) Bedford.  She attended school at Stella, NE and graduated with the Class of 1967.

On October 6, 1967, she was united in marriage to Charles Robert Smith in Rock Island, IL.  After their marriage, Pat and Charles moved to Nebraska City.  She began working at American Meter in 1972 and worked there until her retirement in 2007. 

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Charles Smith of Nebr. City, NE; children:  Bradley Smith of Nebr. City, NE, Charla Hysom (Christopher) of Madison, KS and Patrick Smith of Nebr. City, NE; 6 grandchildren:  Brandon, Rebecca, Bryce, Alexis, Samantha and Wyatt; “adopted daughter” Kristie (Babcock) McDougald and her son Chaz; siblings:  Betty Smith (Gene), Bill Bedford (Barb), Nancy Vallejo (Arn) and Linda Davis (Tom); other family and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her son Shane Smith in 2010; her mom Nell Bedford and brother Robert Bedford.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City. The casket will remain closed.  Burial will be at Cowles Hill Cemetery at a later date. 

Memorials may be given to family.
