Connie May Moorman, age 81 of Hamburg, IA passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Ambassador in Sidney, IA, surrounded by her loving family.

Connie was born to Virginia (Brown) and step father Simon Barrett on August 16, 1937 at Payne Junction, IA.  Connie attended country school and then Hamburg High School where she graduated with the class of 1957.

She married Willard D. Moorman on November 3, 1957 in Fairfax, MO and to this union a daughter, Barbara, was born.  She lived in Omaha, NE working at Clarkson Hospital and J.C. Penney before moving back to Hamburg, IA in the 90’s.  She then worked at Norman’s  IGA (meeting and making many new friends) while handing out food samples.

Earlier in life she liked fishing, going to wrestling shows, stockcar races.  One time she got entered into a woman’s stockcar race and by golly she won the race.  She even flew in an open cockpit two seater airplane.  Sis was kind of an adventurous.  She was a good mother and grandmother, a Christian and a caring and sharing person.  She liked her Iowa Hawkeye and Nebraska Cornhusker football teams even though others tried to convince her to cheer for the Oklahoma Sooners to no avail.  Connie loved to cook and was very gifted at crocheting.  She made many towels, pot-holders, dust mitts, rugs and afghans.  The years brought on declining health but she kept on going as long as she could.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Barbara and husband Jeff Sole of Omaha, NE; four granddaughters and ten great-grandchildren:  Katherine Hug and her daughter Amelia, Christina Scott and her two children Alaina and John, Emily Sharp and her five children:  Carson, Isabella, Chloe, Connor and Finley and Jessica Hug and her two children:  Bradley and Bailey all of Omaha, NE; brothers:  Clyde Barrett and wife Betty of Peru, NE and Gary Barrett and wife Carol of Hamburg, IA; other family and friends.

Connie was preceded in death by her mother and step dad Simon and Virginia Barrett and two sisters, Mary Findley and Rosalie O’Dell.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA.  The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday.

I will miss talking to Connie on the phone and running into her at some of the restaurants in Nebraska City. She was a very nice and caring person.
