Zachary M. Jones

Zachary M. Jones, age 40 of Union, NE passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at his home with his family around him.

Zachary Michael Jones was born on January 27, 1986 at Creighton Hospital in Omaha, NE; the son of Leonard E. “Sam” and Michelle L. “Shelly” (Warden) Jones.  He attended grade school and middle school in Nebraska City and then attended Conestoga High School at Murray, NE.

He married Misti A. Johnson in 2009 in Nehawka, NE and to this union two sons were born: Hunter and Ryder.   They were later divorced.

Zach worked for Labors Local #1140 from the age of 18 until his health failed.  He loved the construction business; especially working with concrete.   Hunting and fishing were some of his favorite hobbies, but he also enjoyed old cars (Chevy Pickups and Camaro’s), studying history, morel mushroom hunting, being on the farm with his late grandparents Leonard and Sarah Jones and hunting for artifacts.  Although he was an avid outdoorsman, he dearly loved spending time with his sons Hunter and Ryder and his nieces and nephews.

He is survived by his sons: Hunter and Ryder of the home; his parents Sam and Shelly Jones of Union, NE; a step-daughter Jayce Hindal; siblings: Drew Jones of Plattsmouth, NE, Joshua Jones (Alesha) of Nehawka, NE and Adrian Lanum (Jake) of Rota, Spain; maternal grandmother Jo Ann Caven of Omaha, NE; special friend Joyce Mills; nieces and nephews: Parker Jones, Emmery Jones, Wyatt Jones, Holden Jones, Reid Jones, Vance Jones, Tinsley Lanum, Tansy Lanum; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Zach was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Leonard and Sarah Jones; maternal grandfather Ron Warden; step-grandfather Kirk Caven and a nephew Callum Lanum.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.  Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Nehawka, NE.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Mon. (4/20) at the mortuary.
