William "Bill" Eugene Nielsen

William "Bill" Eugene Nielsen, 72, of Hamburg, lowa, passed away at his home on September 12, 2025.

Bill was born on October 4, 1952, at Grape Community Hospital to John and Minnie Marie Nielsen. He grew up in Hamburg and graduated from Hamburg High School. Soon after, he proudly served his country in the United States military.

Following his service, Bill worked at the nursery in Hamburg and later at Manildra, where he was employed until illness forced his retirement in 2003.

Married Carolyn Sue Lockard on January 16, 1974 in Rock Port, Missouri.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Marie Nielsen; his brother, Larry Nielsen; and his beloved wife, Carolyn "Sue" Nielsen.

He is survived by his three daughters: Tammi Johnson and husband Mike of Shenandoah, IA; Kim Copeland of Lincoln, NE; and Jennifer Hammers and husband Jesse. He was a proud grandfather to Destiny, Matthew, Jessica, Keisha, Payton, Isaiah, and Haylee, and great-grandfather to Ryker, Rowan, and Rosie.

Bill is also survived by his brother, Jerry Nielsen and wife Elaine; brothers-in-law: John Lockard of Council Bluffs,IA, and Steve Fichter of Council Bluffs, IA; sister-in-law, Sandy Vincent and husband Danny of Council Bluffs, IA; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Bill will be remembered for his love of family, his hard work, and the courage with which he faced life's challenges.

Funeral services: visitation on Wednesday, September 17th 2025 (11:00am) at Rash-Gude Funeral Home, 1220 Main Street, Hamburg, IA; funeral will-be held following visitation at (12:00pm) burial at Mt. Olive Cemetery southeast of Hamburg
