William “Bill” Russell Stanberry of Nebraska City, NE (formerly Dunbar, NE), passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at St Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Lincoln, NE at the age of 64 years, 11 months, 13 days.
Bill was born October 25, 1957, in Marysville, KS, to Clarence and Ila (Likes) Stanberry. They later moved to Tecumseh, NE, then to Sterling, NE where he graduated from Sterling High School with the Class of 1976. After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served for two years. He then worked at Wheaton Tubing in Syracuse for 10 years where he met the love of his life, Teresa. Bill and Teresa (Dietl) were married on July 14, 1979, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Manley, NE and together they had four children.
Bill had a passion for travel and enjoyed sightseeing America during his career as a truck driver and dispatcher. He enjoyed mentoring as an assistant scout master, where he was also able to pass on his knowledge of nature and adventure to his own boys.
Bill is survived by his wife, Teresa of Nebraska City, NE, and their four kids: Nathan (Britany) Stanberry of Blandinsville, IL and children Jaryn, Linkin, Addalyn, Decklan, and Emmeren; Nicole (Jonathan) Gammell of Hamburg, IA, and children TannerJ and Bentley; Kyle (Ashley) Stanberry of Omaha, NE; and Kaitlyn Stanberry of Omaha, NE. Also surviving are six brothers and sisters: Nancy Ktiyeb of San Antonio, TX, Janet (Dean) Fisser of Harbine, NE; Robert (Gail) Stanberry of Burr, NE; Mari (Russ) Fangmeyer of Deshler, NE; Ray Lempka of Douglas, NE; Bryan (Crystal) Lempka of Cook, NE; brother in law Harlan Black of Topeka, KS, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by an infant son Derek Stanberry, his parents Clarence Stanberry, Ila Lempka, stepfather Raymond Lempka, sister Peggy Black, brother Kenneth Stanberry, and an infant sister Patricia Stanberry.
Visitation will be at Gude Funeral Home in Nebraska City, NE on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 beginning at 2:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (10/13) at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse, NE preceded by rosary recitation at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Park Hill Cemetery at Syracuse, NE.
Memorials may be given to the Vasculitis Foundation, Kansas City, MO.
