William D. Harris, age 81 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Prestige Care Center in Nebr. City.
William David Harris was born on June 5, 1944 at the Naval Hospital in Washington D.C.; the son of William Dale and Phyllis Arlene (Owens) Harris. The family later moved to Iowa where he graduated from Nishna Valley High School at Hastings, IA. He then attended trade school where he enrolled and graduated in the Auto Body Program.
On May 31, 1963 he was united in marriage to Jeanne L. Boelling in Red Oak, IA. Bill and Jeanne moved to Nebraska City in 1963.
Bill was a life-long mechanic and owned and operated Bill Harris Auto Repair for numerous years in Nebraska City. He enjoyed the outdoors; especially fishing and hunting and took numerous annual trips to Canada to fish. Bill also loved mushroom hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jeanne Harris of Nebr. City, NE; children: Sandra Spidell and David Harris both of Nebr. City, NE; two grandchildren: Phyllicia and James Spidell; a half-sister Judi Harris of New Port Richey, FL; half-brother Kenneth Harris of Tallahassee, FL; nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a half-sister Susan Harrington.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, 2025 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating. Burial will follow in Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.
The family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (10/29) at the mortuary.
