Wilbert Harold Else passed away at his home in Georgetown, Texas on April 6, 2022 at the age of 86.
He was born in Fairbury Nebraska on April 4, 1936, the son of Irl Roy Else and Helen Gertrude (Lynch) Else. He graduated from Fairbury High School in 1954 and completed a B.S. (Business Administration) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1958. During his college years, he was a member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. Following his education, he served in the United States Air Force, and he was Honorably Discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant in 1970.
He was employed as a Commercial Banker, and he was C.E.O. and Board Chairman of the Fairbury State Bank until his retirement in 1996. During his life, he held membership in the American Legion, Sons of the American Revolution, Masonic Lodge #35, Sun City Shrine Club, and Georgetown Senior University.
He was married to Dianna Lynn Brown of Hamburg, Iowa from March 6, 1970, until her death on May 8, 1998.
Mr. Else is survived by his three children, Deborah Lynn Else of Salado, Texas; Charles Joseph Else of San Francisco, California; and Catherine Leigh Else and her husband Dan Martus of Chicago, Illinois; granddaughters Lauren Engdale, Anna Engdale, and Riley Engdale; grandson Theo Ambrose; sister-in-law Carole (Brown) O’Riley and W.R. O’Riley of Maryville, Missouri; sister-in-law Marion (Eggers) Else of Hudson, Ohio; niece Teresa (O’Riley) Bartkoski and Joe Bartkoski of Kansas City, Missouri and their children; niece Sharon Else-Ware of Hudson, Ohio and her children; niece-in-law Dana Else of Chesapeake, Virginia and her daughter; nephew Robert Else of Hudson, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother Willis Irl Else, and his nephew, John Frazer Else.
His internment will take place at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Mount Olive Cemetery in Hamburg, Iowa, with a reception following at Lied Lodge in Nebraska City, Nebraska. A memorial service will be held in Georgetown, Texas at a later date.
