Wanda McKinley Obituary

Wanda June McKinley, 94, of Nebraska City passed away at her home August 25, 2025 after a brief illness.

She was born June 25, 1931 to Ordean and Elsie (Buchholz) Christiansen in Otoe County.  She lived most of her life in Nebraska City. In 1948 she married Alfred Kleineweber and to this union three children were born:  Henry, Pamela and Eric. Alfred passed away in 1967. She married Richard Hankins in 1968 and to this union one daughter, Tollie was born.

They divorced in 1973.  She married John “Bob” McKinley in 1976 and they remained married until his death in 2001. They had no children.

Wanda worked for 26 years at Valley View Care Center as a nurse aide and a med aide. She enjoyed her work and the residents very much.

She loved dancing, playing cards ~ pinochle, pitch and rummy. She enjoyed yard and garden work and an occasional trip to the casino, a beer or two and vacations. She was a golden EAGLE member or Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 968.

She is survived by her children Henry (RoseMarie) Kleineweber of Crete, NE, Pamela (Carolyn) Kleineweber Marchant of Nebraska City, NE, Eric (Ingeborg) Kleineweber of Hinesville, GA and Tollie (Chad) Riensche of Sterling, NE; ten grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters:  Ruth (George) Akins of Buffalo, MO,  Dona (Silas) Sheib of Nebraska City, NE, Clara (the late Roy Housh) of Rock Port, MO, Vernon Christiansen Sr. of Nebraska City, NE, Harold (Alice) Christiansen of Nebraska City, NE, Connie Gress of Nebraska City, NE, Lois Bruns of Nebraska City, NE and Karlene (Frank) Soriano of Nebraska City, NE; and other family and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers:  Clifford and Robert (Bob) and husbands:  Alfred, Richard and John “Bob”.

A Funeral Service will be  held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday (8/29) at the mortuary.

Memorials may be given to the Eagles Auxiliary Aerie 968 in Nebraska City.
