Virginia J. (Osborne) Moyer

Virginia J. Moyer, age 89 of Nebr. City passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Hillcrest Care Center in Bellevue, NE.

Virginia was born May 19, 1932 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Homer and Elizabeth (Ertl) Osborne.  She grew up in Nebraska City and attended St. Bernard’s Academy; graduating with the Class of 1950.

On May 29, 1950, Virginia was united in marriage to Max Moyer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City and to this union eight children were born.   Virginia was a very loving person towards her family, had deep faith in her religion and enjoyed all of her kids’ activities.  She was one who was always willing to help anyone who needed help.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters.

She is survived by her children:  Sister Betsy Moyer of Maple Mount, KY, Butch Moyer (Martha) of Nebr. City, NE, Phillip Moyer (Nancy) of Bellevue, NE, Jim Moyer (Madeline) of Bellevue, NE, Mary Ann Lazzo (Mark) of Wichita, KS, Joanie Kemlage (Tom) of St. Louis, MO, Robert Moyer (Marcia) of Nebr. City, NE and Joyce Schierbaum (John) of Shawnee, KS; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Max on May 31, 2003, a stillborn son Patrick Wayne Moyer, sister Elizabeth L. “Tootsie” Goll, brother Gene “Jim” Osborne, parents:  Homer and Elizabeth and her step-father Fred Kinton.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City.  Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday (11/28) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.  A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Memorials may be given to Lourdes Central Catholic Endowment Fund or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
