Virginia Irene (Wolfe) Heng, age 80 of Nebraska City passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City.
Virginia was born on February 16, 1940 in Omaha, NE; the daughter of Leslie and Nellie (Bidrowski) Wolfe. Virginia grew up in Omaha and graduated from Omaha Mercy High with the Class of 1958. After high school, Virginia was employed at Hawkeye Security and Insurance in Omaha.
Virginia married Michael Heng on July 7, 1962 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Omaha, NE. Mike and Virginia had three children: Karen, Nancy and Michael. Virginia was a loving mother and ardent supporter of her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She liked playing cards, and gardening, especially flowers. She also liked reading books from the Morton James Public Library.
She was an active partner in the farming operation. Virginia became a real estate agent/broker and appraiser working in the Nebraska City area. Most recently, Mike and Virginia worked as crop insurance agents and enjoyed assisting many farmers and land owners.
Virginia was an active member St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters. In 1962, Virginia joined the Neighborhood Project Club where she developed many friendships and looked forward to the monthly meetings. She also participated in the Preceptor Alpha Lambda Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
She will be greatly missed by Michael, her husband of 58 years; her children: Karen Heng of Lincoln, Nancy (Andy) Hadenfeldt of Lincoln and Michael (Tina) Heng of Nebraska City; her grandchildren: Danielle, Paige and Michael Heng of Nebr. City; three great-grandchildren: Drake, Alayna and Amiyah; sisters-in-law: Mary Leidig of West, TX and Dorothy (William) Woycheshin of Waco, TX; brother-in-law Oscar (Wilma) Heng of Dunbar, NE; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Nellie Wolfe; brother William; mother and father-in-law Oscar and Agnes Heng; sister-in-law Agnes Wheeler; brother-in-law Ron Leidig and nephews Joseph and Gregory Woycheshin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Morton James Public Library, Lourdes Central Catholic or the family’s choice.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 15, 2021 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Fr. Tim Danek celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow the service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.
The Rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral.
There will be open visitation on Sunday, Feb. 14 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.
