Suellen “Sue” Eickhoff, age 80 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.
Suellen Claire Eickhoff was born on October 29, 1942 in Norfolk, NE; the daughter of John Henry and Cecilia Ann (Dugan) Beuck. Her family lived in Belden, NE when she was born and then moved to Hartington, NE, where she was raised and graduated from Holy Trinity High School. She attended Duchesne College for one year and then transferred to the University of South Dakota, where she earned her Bachelors Degree of Fine Arts in Education. While in college, Sue was a member of the Alpha-Phi Sorority.
On February 8, 1964, Sue was united in marriage to Charles Alfred Eickhoff at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Hartington, NE. After their marriage, they lived in Boston where Charles was a Lieutenant in the United States Army. They moved to Shenandoah, IA in 1965, and Sue taught at Hamburg, IA as the Art Teacher for two years. In 1966, Sue and Charles moved to Nebraska City, where they raised their children. Sue taught at Lourdes Central Catholic as an Art Teacher for 22 years.
She is survived by her husband Charles Eickhoff of Nebr. City; children: Joan Bradley (Jeff) of Nebr. City and Amy Jahn (Jeff) of Columbus, NE, daughter-in-law Lia Eickhoff of Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren: Luke Bradley, Emily Kenney (Jake), Hallie Eickhoff, Joe Jahn, Caitlin Jahn, Ellie Jahn, Russell Pettigrew (Brittany), Adam Pettigrew (Paige) and Mathew Pettigrew; two great-grandchildren: Charlie Beuck Kenney and Raelia Pettigrew; a sister Margaret Doyle of Arizona; brother-in-law Donn Morris of Colorado; other family and friends.
Sue was preceded in death by son Steven Eickhoff on Nov. 28, 2015, her parents, two sisters: Joan Tideman and Barbara Morris and brothers-in-law: Ron Tideman and John Doyle.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City with Frs. Jeff Eickhoff, Matt Eickhoff and Mark Pfeiffer celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebr. City.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday (8/20) at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
