Stephen William Borer

Stephen W. Borer, age 81 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Stephen William Borer was born on July 25, 1943 in Ft. Dodge, IA; the son of Wayne and Fawn (Ergish) Borer. 

On July 3, 1978 Stephen was united in marriage to Betty Jean Brown in Camdenton, MO.

He worked as a mechanic at Johnson Motors in Auburn, Rowe Motors in Nebr. City and Misle Chevrolet in Lincoln prior to starting his career at American Meter.  He worked at American Meter for 23 years before retiring in 2013.  He was a member of the National Rifle Association (N.R.A.).

He is survived by his wife Betty Borer of Nebr. City; children:  Carla Murphy of Marcuss, IA, Cammy Vondrak of Pierson, IA, Sheila Beaumier (Mike) of Washta, IA, Shari Orr (John) of Portland, OR, Casey Borer (Lidia) of Nebr. City, NE and Cody Borer (sig. other Kellen Doty) of Nebr. City, NE; 16 grandchildren:  Zachary (Emily), Malori (Sean), Brandy (Matt), Kyle (Whitney), Nikki, Kaylene (Austin), Robby (Katie), Matthew (Hannah), Jamie (Jeff), Shelby, Damien, Jacob, John Jr. (Stephanie), Brian (Jill), Ava and Evan; numerous great-grandchildren; brother Gary Borer of Annandale, MN, sister-in-law:  Delores Scharp of Farragut, IA and brother-in-law Robert Brown (Mary) of Nebr. City, NE; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Crystal Shankles and sister-in-law Garnet (Buck) Kreifels.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thurs. (2/13) at the mortuary.
