Shirley A. (Schnitzmeyer) Sudman

Shirley A. (Schnitzmeyer) Sudman, age 88 of Omaha, NE passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at the Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha.

Shirley Ann Sudman was born on January 19, 1937 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Olando Lawrence and Clara Marie (Hettinger) Schnitzmeyer. 

Shirley was united in marriage to Wilmer Sudman on May 26, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City, NE and to this union three children were born:  Rusty, Pat and Theresa.  Shirley loved being a mother most.  She enjoyed working at the Weeping Water Public School cafeteria, volunteering at the hospital, cooking, quilting and playing cards.  She was also an active Altar Society member of St. Patrick’s, Manley, NE; St. Sabina, Raymore, MO and St. Wenceslaus, Omaha, NE.

Shirley is survived by her husband Wilmer Sudman of Omaha, NE; daughters Pat Logsdon of Lincoln, NE and Theresa Miller (Jack) of Omaha, NE; granddaughter Leah Stewart (Ashton); great-grandson Quinn; many nieces and nephews and dear friends. 

She was preceded in death by her dad Olando in 1973, her mother Clara in 1986, son Rusty Sudman in 1995, half-brother August Vetter (KIA WWII) in 1943 and a sister Mary Lee Duncan in 2024.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City, NE.  Inurnment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City, NE.

Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City is in charge of arrangements.
