Shirley (Huss) McCord

Shirley A. McCord, age 88, of Nebraska City passed away Sunday, June 28, 2020 at her home.

Shirley was born on April 19, 1932 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Louis H. and Ella Marie (Smith) Huss.  She attended Country School District 12 at Minersville.  

On March 31, 1951 she was united in marriage to Eldrado “Junior” McCord at the First Christian Church in Sidney, IA and to this union three daughters were born:  Crystal, Terri and Sherri.

Shirley worked at Otoe Foods and then began work at American Meter on the Production Line where she worked until her retirement in 1997.  She was a longtime, active member of the First Christian Church and a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters:  Crystal Trull of Nebr. City, Terri Huffman and husband Rodney of Ft. Dodge, IA and Sherri Staack and husband Ronald of Syracuse, NE; lifelong, dear friend Linda Betts of Nebr. City; five grandchildren:  Nicholas Baker (Danielle), Billie Jo Baker, Amber Huffman (Eric), Rodney Huffman, Jr. and Holli Ann Staack (Levi); three great-grandchildren:  Linkoln Baker, Jordan Mrozek and Justine Cox; sister-in-law Mary Wolfe of Lincoln, NE; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband Junior McCord in 1982, sisters:  Dorothy Brod and Mary Sigler and brothers:  Harold Huss and Robert Huss.

Open Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30 and 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.
