Shirley A. McCain, age 86 of Colorado Springs, CO passed away on July 10, 2023 at the Pikes Peak Hospice at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs.
Shirley Ann McCain was born on February 19, 1937 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Oatha Taylor and Helen Lucille Secord. She grew up and attended school in Nebraska City.
On May 25, 1953, Shirley was united in marriage to Earl McCain in Sidney, IA and to this union six children were born: Ronald, Ronda, Daniel, Brenda, Pamela and Willard.
In addition to raising a family, she worked at US West Phone Company. She worked for the phone company for 25 years before retiring. She was very proud of her job. In retirement, she worked at H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt as a Tax Preparer. Shirley was a member of the CWA and the Pioneers Union. She also participated in the Red Hat Society.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Ronda McCain of Colorado Springs, CO, Daniel McCain (Melissa) of Des Moines, IA, Brenda McCain (Bob Lopez) of Berthoud, CO, Pamela Kaar (Mark Griffin) of Beverly Hills, FL and Willard McCain (Hope) of Elkhorn, NE; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; siblings: Flora Henry of Philadelphia, PA; Bonnie Naffziger of Virginia City, MT, Ralph Clark of Lincoln, NE and Gary Clark of Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Earl McCain, infant son Ronald McCain and siblings: Floyd Clark and Patricia Goodwin.
Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
