Shirley Josephine (Mines) Martinez

Shirley J. Martinez, age 77 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at her home. 

Shirley was born on June 21, 1944 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, NE.  She was the daughter of Ernest Mines and Edna J. (Scroggins) Mines.  She attended school and graduated from high school.  She later took some college courses.

Those left to cherish her memory include her three daughters:  Patrice A. Martinez of Cook, NE, LaVonne C. Lee (Leland) of Burleson, TX and Tanya R. Martinez of Stockton, CA; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; sister Betty Knapp and her children:  John, Cindy, Jinnohn and Bruce; other family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her son Donald Martinez; parents, Edna and Ernest Mines, a brother Edward E. Hall, her grandparents, and other extended family members.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.  Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.

The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday (3/13) at the mortuary.
