Shawn C. Collins

Shawn C. Collins, age 55 of Nebraska City passed away on July 25, 2024 at his home.

He was born on October 15, 1968 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Jack Colon and Phyllis Janean (Barton) Collins.  He attended school at District #3 Country School and later at the Nebraska City Public Schools where he graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1987. 

He was united in marriage to Samantha Ann Smith on June 27, 1992 in Nebraska City and to this union two children were born:  Gabriel and Nicole.

Shawn worked at American Meter Company for some 35 years.  He left American Meter Co. in 2017 when his health began to fail.   He was a member of the Eagles Club, Otoe County Wildlife Club, First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City and a past member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG).

He is survived by his wife Samantha Collins of Nebraska City; son Gabriel “Gabe” Collins and wife Samantha Lee of Kenosha, WI, Nicole Collins of Nebraska City; a grandson Jack Collins, his mother Phyllis Collins of Nebraska City; a sister Jacqueline Kulton and husband George of Akron, OH; mother-in-law Barbara Cochran of Nebraska City, father-in-law Sam Smith and wife Jana of Brock, NE, brothers-in-law:  Marc Cooper and friend Cheryl of Unadilla, NE, Darren Cooper of Humboldt, NE, Kent Cooper and wife Rhonda of Humboldt, NE and Steve Smith and wife Natalie of Nebraska City; numerous extended family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Jack C. Collins in 2002.

Services will be held Thursday; Aug. 1, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City with Pastors Michael Brown and Tom Earhart officiating. 

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday (July 31) at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.

Memorials may be given to the Otoe County Wildlife Club in Shawn’s memory.
