Sharon K. Wurtele, age 79 of Nebraska City passed away suddenly on Monday evening; May 22, 2023 at the Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls, IA.
Sharon Kay (Hesting) Wurtele was born on January 18, 1944 in Parsons, KS; the daughter of Orville and Clara (Garriott) Hesting. She attended school in Parsons and graduated from Parsons Senior High School.
She was united in marriage to Steven L. Wurtele on December 28, 1979, at the Wurtele family home in Nebraska City.
Sharon worked for several years at the former Apple Inn Motel in Nebr. City. Most recently she worked at Walmart in Nebr. City until her health began to fail. She was an extremely talented painter and enjoyed various arts and crafts and refinishing furniture. She loved her pet dogs Murphy and Emma, but her greatest love was her family.
She is survived by her husband Steve Wurtele of Nebr. City; children: Kimberly King (John Roberts) of Eldora, IA, Patrick Greenlee (Lori Davis) of Hamburg, IA and Brodie Wurtele of Rock Port, MO; nine grandchildren: Mandy Horstman (Fred), Lacey Adams (Derrek), Patrick Greenlee III (Tori), Benjamin Greenlee, Joshua Greenlee, Xalie Wurtele, Grey Wurtele, Lucy Wurtele and Sunset Wurtele; three great grandchildren, sister in law Candice Wurtele (sig. other Dan Zimmerman); other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters: Nina, Zelma and Nita; father and mother-in-law Earl and Geneva Wurtele.
