Sharon Lea Anderson

Sharon Lea Anderson was called home to heaven on June 17, 2025 at the age of 85. She was a brilliant, gentle and fun-loving woman who made a habit of putting the needs of others before her own.

Sharon was born in Hamburg, IA and raised on the Anderson Brothers family farm in Riverton, IA. Throughout her life, she held steadfast to proud roots there. After obtaining undergraduate and graduate degrees at University of Southern California Irvine, Sharon’s success continued as she embarked on an impressive professional career, ultimately serving as a Clinical Operations Executive at IBRD for many years.

Outside of work and family, she dedicated much of her time to volunteering, working weekly with non-profit organizations such as Manna for more than a decade. Sharon was also an avid social justice activist who believed wholeheartedly that change came only from action. Her spirit was unique and remarkable, and it will remain in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.

Sharon is preceded in death by her father, Laurence “Top” Edwin Anderson, her mother, Gladys Maree Deibert Anderson, and first cousins Steven Anderson, Danny LaHue, and John Anderson Jr. She is survived by her brother, Michael Anderson, nieces Carter Anderson (husband Sean Califf) and Laurence Anderson (fiancée Alexandra Vitale), great-nephew Sutton Boarman, great-niece June Califf, and first cousins Jean Volpe, Judith Anderson, David Kipp, Kate (Kathy) LaHue, and Jane Ann Philip.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Friday, July 11 at 10:30 AM at Rash-Gude Funeral Home Chapel (1220 Main Street, Hamburg, IA 51640). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to two of Sharon’s most beloved charities, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate) and Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank (www.donate.mannaconejo.org).
