Ruth Mary (Wirth) Pfeiffer

Ruth Mary Pfeiffer, age 96 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on July 31, 2023 at the Syracuse Good Samaritan Center.

Ruth was born on the family home southwest of Nebraska City on March 31, 1927, daughter of Edward Anton and Gertrude Marie (Harris) Wirth.  On Ruth’s 21st birthday, March 31, 1948 she was united in marriage to Robert M. (Bob) Pfeiffer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City and blessed with four children: Ed, Patti, Ruthie and Cathy. 

Ruth was a loving wife and mother who worked alongside her husband Bob on the farm.  She lived all her life in the Nebraska City area.  Ruth attended District 17 country school and later Nebraska City High School.  Ruth and Bob were long-time members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Paul, NE where Ruth was active in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Altar Society.  After retiring and moving from the farm to Nebraska City in 2000, they were then members of St Mary’s Catholic Church.  Ruth was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Eagles Auxiliary. Ruth and Bob enjoyed traveling, with a trip to Europe in 1983 as the highlight of their travels.

Those left to cherish her memory include children: Ed and Bonnie (Barrett) of Syracuse, NE; Patti and Bill Dierking of Golden, CO; Ruthie and Arlin Kuehn of Dunbar, NE; Cathy Knoll of Centerville, OH; grandchildren:   Jim and Pam Pfeiffer of Syracuse, NE; Karen (Pfeiffer) and Jim Danner of Syracuse, NE;  Chad and Christa Dierking of Arvada, CO; Todd and Katherine Dierking of Superior, CO; Brad and Kari Kuehn of Dunbar, NE; Tami (Kuehn) and Jason Damme of Lincoln, NE; Michael and Kristina Knoll of Findlay, OH; Sarah (Knoll) and Nate Hallum of Centerville, OH; 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great- grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law: LeRoy Kreifels; Rita Wenzl; Irene and Bob Peterson; Rosemarie Pfeiffer and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2014 and siblings, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law:  Robert and Polly Wirth; Leon and Evelyn Wirth; Bernice and Bazil Wenzel; Naomi and Don Schomerus; Velda Kreifels; Frances Pfeiffer; Leonard and Helen Pfeiffer; Martin Pfeiffer; Glen and Shirley Pfeiffer; Dolores and Bob Ryan; Andy and Alice Pfeiffer; Esther and Ed Barton; Leo Pfeiffer; Walter Wenzl.

Ruth requested memorials to be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church or the Eagles Auxiliary.
