Ruth Ellen (Ervin) Doiel

Ruth E. Doiel, age 88 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Ruth Ellen Doiel was born on July 10, 1937 in Union, NE; the daughter of Ernest Raymond and Etta Frances (Crunk) Ervin.  She grew up in the Union area where she attended country school and later attended the Nebraska City High School.

On October 7, 1955, she was united in marriage to Glen J. Doiel in Rock Port, MO and to this union three children were born:  Michael, Ardell and Raymond.  In addition to raising her family, Ruth worked at Pendleton Woolen Mills and then American Meter for 28 years before retiring in 1997.  After retirement she worked at various other jobs including at the former Funke’s Appliance Store and the Hot Lunch Program at Nebraska City Public Schools.

Ruth was a lifetime member of Eagles Auxiliary for which she was a past president and always remained active in the association.  In her retirement, Ruth enjoyed traveling and playing BINGO and especially liked the adventures on her many bus tours.

She is survived by her children:  Ardell Sachs (Tracy) of Plattsmouth, NE, Raymond Doiel of Nebraska City, NE; daughter-in-law Carol Doiel of Underwood, IA; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; sister Ardith Maybee (Kenny) of Nebraska City, NE; other family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Glen in 1994, son Michael in 2018, daughter-in-law Virginia Doiel in 2014, granddaughter Oraina in 1977; her parents Raymond and Frances Ervin and sister Edith Bunn in 1985.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating.  Burial will follow at East Union Cemetery near Union, NE.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (9/11) at the mortuary.
