Roger Hartman Obituary

Roger E. Hartman Jr. (Hollywood Hartman), age 74 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at his home.

Roger Eugene Hartman Jr. was born on November 22, 1950 in Omaha, NE; the son of Roger Eugene Sr. and Darlene (Huss) Hartman.  He attended country school in Otoe County and then graduated from Nebraska City High School.

He was a police officer, working for the Independence, MO Police Department and then later for the Nebraska City Police Department.  He retired from the Nebraska City PD in 2006, but retirement didn’t suit Hollywood Hartman well. After being a police officer, Roger worked for the State of Nebraska Probation Office and taught STOP Classes. Roger was a member of the River City Classics Club. He enjoyed classic cars, which also fed his need for speed. During his free time he enjoyed playing golf, bowling, and participating in “Cowboy Shootouts.” Above all else, his daughters and grandchildren were his world.

Roger is survived by his daughters: Mallory Hartman of Omaha, NE, Sagan Hartman of Teutopolis, IL and Helena Hartman (husband Tony Steinhour) of Hickman, NE; three grandchildren: Addelyn Calkins, Ricky Schopp III and Mason Wertz; nephew Craig Hartman and niece Steffanie Hartman; other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents : Darlene and Roger brothers: Lawrence and Steven.
