Robert E. Scroggins, age 92 of Council Bluffs, IA (formerly Nebraska City) passed away at Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs on Dec. 17, 2022.
He was born on Sept. 8, 1930 in Oregon, MO; the son of Edward and Etta (Walker) Scroggins. He attended school in Nebraska City.
He was united in marriage to Beverly J. McLain on December 24, 1953 at Davis City, IA. Beverly preceded him in death on March 5, 2019 in Las Vegas, NV.
Bob served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He served in Company B&G, the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division. He entered service on Aug. 9, 1948 and was discharged on May 7, 1951. He was a disabled Korean War Combat Veteran. Bob was an Optician for 34 years and was Major Market Manager for 18 of those years. He was a long-time member of American Legion Post #8, serving as Commander for 1 year, V.F.W. and the D.A.V serving as Commander for 2 years. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling; he and his wife Beverly visited all 50 states and spent many winters in Hawaii.
He is survived by his children: Robin Horton (Jeff) of Frisco, TX, Corbin Scroggins (Mary) of Daingerfield, TX, Kent Scroggins of Nebr. City, NE and Roxanna Sok (Mark) of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren: Alex and Alissa Horton, Andrew Fauver, Joseph Fauver (Taylor), Shelby Vodicka, Roxann Osborn (Chad) and Robert Scroggins; great-grandchild Eleanor Fauver, a brother John Scroggins (Shirley) of Redmond, OR; special niece Gail Parks (Duane) and special great-nephew Maverick Parks all of Dunbar, NE, special great nephew Andrew Scroggins of Jacksonville, North Carolina; best friend Bud Bliss of Las Vegas, NV; other family and friends.
In addition to his wife Beverly, he was preceded in death by sisters: Edna, Mary and Lucille and a brother William.
Memorials may be given to First Christian Church or the D.A.V. (Disabled American Vets).
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City, NE with Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City with Military Honors conducted by the Nebraska Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail and the Talmage American Legion Post.
The family will greet friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., prior to the service at the mortuary.
