Robert Lee Hines

Robert L. Hines, age 74 of Farragut, IA (formerly Hamburg) passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at the Shenandoah Medical Center in Shenandoah, IA.

Robert Lee Hines was born on February 24, 1948 in Omaha, NE; the son of Glen Eugene and Shirley Jeanette (Brown) Hines.  He attended school in Millard and then later moved to Hamburg where he graduated with the Class of 1967.  He later attended Nettleton Technical Institute in Columbus, NE where he took courses in Drafting.

Robert owned and operated the Waubonsie Trading Post, where he did small engine repair and sales. He worked various other jobs including at Waubonsie State Park, Country Mart, American Meter, Peru State College, and Ace Hardware.  He enjoyed many things including hunting, fishing, making lures, airbrush painting fish, and was known for being a storyteller for anyone who would listen.  He also volunteered for the Hamburg Fire and Rescue.

He is survived by his daughters:  Leslie Alley (Greg) of Hamburg, IA and Andrea Gibilisco (Steve) of rural Hamburg, IA; four grandchildren:  Bryce Alley, Brogan Alley, Conner Gibilisco and Charlotte Gibilisco; brother Dennis Hines of Boise, ID; other family and friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and brothers:  Gene Hines and Dan Lair.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.  Inurnment will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, southeast of Hamburg.
