Robert R. “Bob” Duncan, age 88, of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Lincoln, NE. Bob was born on November 14, 1931 in Nebraska City, NE to William and Mary Mae (Secord) Duncan.
He was united in marriage to Mary Lee Schnitzmeyer on April 8, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City, NE
Bob was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Avoca, NE for 46 years. During that time he was a lector and served on the Church Council. He was also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church from September of 2006 until his death. He served on District 11 School Board as President for nine years and was a former member of the Eagles in Nebr. City.
He farmed in the Nebraska City and Dunbar areas for many years. He loved working with and took great pride in his cattle; and considered it his hobby. He also dearly loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Mae (1975) and his father Bill (1983), sister Wilma (1926), brother John (1989), niece (1948), father-in-law, O.L. Schnitzmeyer (1973), mother-in-law, Clara Schnitzmeyer (1986), nephew, Wilmer Eugene “Rusty” Sudman Jr. (1995) as well as his granddaughter Kala (Ahrens) Griepenstroh (2019).
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Lee Duncan of Nebr. City, NE; three daughters: Chris Ahrens and husband Tom of Murray, NE, Vicky Pfeiffer of Cook, NE and Bobbi Kraenow and husband Kevin of Gibbon, NE; six grandsons: Justin Pfeiffer and wife Steph, Derek Pfeiffer and wife Bri, Josh Pfeiffer and wife Cassie, Travis Ahrens, Kaleb Kraenow and wife Becky, and Lance Griepenstroh; two granddaughters: Karissa Eckel and husband Dillon and Briana Kraenow; great-grandchildren: Taylor and Kaden Griepenstroh, Gavin and Thomas Ahrens, Hailey, Brittany and Jordyn Pfeiffer, Cameron, Jaylen and Connor Pfeiffer, Owen and Quintin Pfeiffer and Brynlee Eckel; brother Charles Duncan and wife Bara of Lincoln, NE; sister-in-law Virginia Duncan of Nebr. City; brother and sister-in-law Wilmer and Shirley Sudman of Omaha, NE; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday (1/25) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebr. City; burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Gude Mortuary followed by a Prayer Service/Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Nebr. City Rescue Squad.
