Rick McCloskey Obituary

Rick L. McCloskey, age 62 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Monday, June 27, 2022 at his home.

Rick was born on July 6, 1959 in Minot, ND; the son of Calvin and Marie (Wierowski) McCloskey.  His family later moved to Nebraska where he graduated from Norris High School in 1978.  He then attended Southeast Community College where he took courses in Auto Mechanics and completed his degree in 1983.

He worked at Beatrice Concrete for many years and then moved to Nebraska City where he worked at Concrete Industries.  He also owned and operated McCloskey Snow Removal.

Rick enjoyed car racing, both as a driver (early days) and a spectator, and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan.  He collected and restored two older Chevelles with the help of his brother-in-law, Phil, which were his pride and joy for many years.  Rick was always a very hard worker and had a vital role in the remodeling efforts of several downtown Nebraska City buildings.  He also enjoyed fishing and was fortunate to catch a barricuda while deep sea fishing in Mexico – that was quite a challenge!  He enjoyed vacationing with family and adventures in Mexico.

Rick was united in marriage to Teri L. Fox on February 7, 1998 at First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City and they shared 24 years together.  Through this union Rick welcomed being a father to Jeremy Hotsenpillar and David Fox.

He is survived by his wife Teri Fox-McCloskey of Nebr. City; son David Fox and wife Katherine of Lincoln, NE; granddaughter Olivia Fox; special grandchildren:  Samuel Bennett and Eliza Bennett; mom Marie Meints of Beatrice, NE; sister Lorrie Padgett and husband Phil of Hanover, KS; sisters-in-law: Pamela Snyder (David) of Council Bluffs, IA and Deborah Fox (Joe Griepenstroh) of Nebr. City, NE; brother-in-law Mark Fox of Nebr. City, NE; nieces:  Crystal Bennett (Lance) of Otoe, NE and Lyndee Padgett of Hanover, KS; other family and friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his son Jeremy Hotsenpillar, dad Calvin McCloskey, and father/mother-in-law:  David and Caroline Fox.
