Richard D. Weisbrook, age 70 of Craig, NE: formerly of Talmage and Auburn, NE, passed away at his home in Craig on Sunday; May 18, 2025.
Richard Dean “Rick” Weisbrook was born on January 21, 1955 in Auburn, NE; the son of Herman and Thelma (Brush) Weisbrook. He attended school in Auburn.
On December 27, 1976, he entered the U.S. Army in Denver, CO and honorably and faithfully served his country until his discharge on December 11, 1979. He was united in marriage to Janet Louise Shaw in 1994 at Pueblo, CO.
Rick worked for many years at the Veterans Administration (V.A.) Hospital primarily as an Environmental Specialist. He moved from Pueblo, CO to Talmage, NE in 1995 and later moved from Talmage to Craig, NE in 2011.
He is survived by his children: Alicia Pursey of Nebraska City, NE, Joel Pursey (Dana) of Auburn, NE, Nicole Pursey of Auburn, NE, Christopher Weisbrook (Kendel) of Nebraska City, NE and Angela Weisbrook (fiance’ Austin Woodcock) of Fremont, NE; eight grandchildren and one due in June; sisters: Patricia Latta (David) of Auburn, NE and Kay Bucher of Colorado; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet on Feb. 9, 2025, brothers: Jim Weisbrook, Donald Roberts and Kenneth Roberts; a sister Vera Roberts May and his parents Herman and Thelma.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday; June 1, 2025 at 12 noon at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City. Immediately following the services, military honors will be conducted by the US Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.
