Richard Dale Dooley

Richard Dale Dooley was born on October 29, 1931 to Vance and Neva (Smith) Dooley in Jefferson City, Missouri and was welcomed into Jesus’s arms on November 3, 2025 in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Rex and Keith. He is survived by wife Beverly, children John (Karen) Dooley, Teresa (Mark) Sokol, and David (Maria) Dooley, five grandchildren: Natalie Grund (Shawn), Jacob Dooley (Jenna), Lindsey Jungers (Ben), Sarah Dooley (Grant) and James Dooley (Katie), and four great-grandchildren: Lily and Oliver Grund, Sloane Dooley and Ari Schuster.

Dick and Beverly raised their family in Hamburg, Iowa where he owned Dooley Motors selling Fords and servicing vehicles. He and Beverly were married for 69 years. He and Beverly also owned The White Spot Drive In where many enjoyed ice cream and homemade tenderloins during the summer months. He served his community and church in many ways including as a member of the Hamburg City Council, Kiwanis and as a Board member at the First United Methodist Church where he also enjoyed singing in the choir. In addition, he served in the National Guard reserve and was honorably discharged on October 2, 1952.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He loved vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks where he and Beverly owned a condo and was so pleased to share that special place with his grandchildren. Many hours were spent cruising in the boat, teaching water skiing and enjoying the sun during vacations every summer.

He and Beverly eventually moved to Bettendorf, Iowa near sons John and David where he spent the remainder of his life. He was known for his special laugh, always having ice cream on hand and his ability to make conversation with almost anyone. He will be dearly missed.

Memorials can be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Hamburg, Iowa, or the American Cancer Society.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church in Hamburg, IA.  Burial will follow in the Hamburg Cemetery.
