Ray Vernon Hendrickson was born at home on a snowy day, Dec. 30, 1940. He was born in Nemaha County Nebraska and joined a large family of siblings.
The family moved to McKissick island, NE when he was about 5 years old. He attended the island school until high school and then went to Hamburg where he graduated high school in 1959. During high school Ray loved to compete in sports. He especially liked track and football.

After high school Ray worked in construction operating heavy equipment for a number of years.
Ray went to work for Missouri Beef Packers when they opened in the late 1960's. He started out lugging beef and eventually worked his way up to Plant Superintendent. Ray went to work in Omaha at Northern States Beef in south Omaha after MBP closed at Rock Port. In 1993 Ray and Linda bought The Harvest Inn in Hamburg and Ray ran the business until his retirement in 2010. The restaurant was known for its Friday night fish fry, steaks and Sunday buffet.
Ray loved his community and often sponsored fund raising events for many community needs and activities. Ray was always present at sporting events for his kids and grandkids. He loved watching them compete. Ray always put his family first and would drop everything if someone needed him or his help. He had many people he called friend.
