Paul Allen Cooper, age 80 of Elk City, KS passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021, at home surrounded by family with the support of the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.
Paul was born on April 9, 1940 in Weeping Water, NE; the youngest son of William and Frances (Allen) Cooper. He attended school in Nebraska City and graduated from Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1958.
He was united in marriage to Wanda Humphrey on February 26, 1961 in Auburn, NE and to this union three children were born: Vicky, Patrick and Michael.
Paul began his service with the Nebraska State Patrol in 1964. He worked in and around Waverly, NE as a Carrier Enforcement Officer, retiring as a Sergeant in 2002. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing in Alaska. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his wife Wanda, and in later years was frequently seen driving the local roads in his Willys Jeep.
He is survived by children: Vicky Stevens and husband Greg of Elk City, KS, Patrick Cooper and wife Katrina of Anchorage, AK, Michael Cooper and wife Kathryn of Denver, CO; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; other family and friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and his wife Wanda Cooper who died on August 24, 2015, in Bel Aire, KS.
A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City with honors conducted by the Nebraska State Patrol. Following the services, the family will host a time of sharing memories and greeting friends at the Lied Lodge Conference Center in Nebraska City from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The family will greet friends prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Gude Mortuary in Nebr. City.
