Obituary

Paul H. Albrecht, age 80 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Tuesday morning; August 15, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City.

Paul Henry Albrecht was born on May 31, 1943 in Fort Dodge, IA; the son of Lorenz Edward and Gladys Irene (Berry) Albrecht.  He attended school in Pomeroy, IA and graduated from the Pomeroy High School with the Class of 1961.  He attended the University of Iowa and later the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, IA where he obtained his Associate Degree in Accounting and Business Management.

He entered the US Navy on September 4, 1968 and served his country until his honorable discharge on December 19, 1969.  Shortly after his discharge, he began his career in Banking in DeWitt, IA.  Through the years, he worked in various banks including at Spencer, IA, Bellevue, NE, Nebr. City, NE, Independence, MO and Arvada, CO.  He retired from Security State Bank in Lake Park, IA in 2000 after some 30 years in the profession.   In 2022, Paul and Ellie moved to Nebraska City to be closer to family.  Paul was a former member of the Elks, Kiwanis and the American Legion.

He was united in marriage to Ellene H. (Bryson) Sigloch on November 18, 1989 in Independence, MO and they shared over 33 years of their lives together.

He is survived by his wife Ellene “Ellie” Albrecht of Nebr. City; children:  Troy Albrecht (friend Julie Stukenholtz) and Lisa Schmitz (Nick) all of Nebr. City; step-children Ronald Sigloch of Springfield, MO and Kimberly Sigloch (partner Sara Fors) of Olathe, KS; grandchildren:  Abby Albrecht, Zac Albrecht, Sydney Schmitz and Kendyl Schmitz; step-grandchildren:  Jacob Sigloch and Matthew Sigloch; a brother Dean Albrecht (Cindy) of Jackson, MN, sister-in-law Elizabeth Albrecht of Johnston, IA; other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gary Albrecht and Lynn Albrecht.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date to honor him.
