Patricia C. (Patty) Straw

Patricia C. “Patty” Straw, age 56 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Thursday; June 29, 2023 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City.

Patricia Colleen Straw was born on March 3, 1967 in Rupert, ID; the daughter of Richard Lee and Sandra Elaine (Christiansen) Straw.  She attended school in Nebraska City and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1985.

Patty was a hard worker and worked at various care centers over the years including the former Duff’s Friendship Villa and Nebraska City Manor.  She also worked at the Tabor Care Center, Tabor, IA and at the former Arnie’s Bagelicious.  Most recently, she worked as a cashier at the Texaco (now Pilot) Gas Station near Percival, IA and as Secretary at the Bethel Church where she was a member.  Patty enjoyed her friends and neighbors at Riverview Terrace and especially delighted in calling BINGO at Riverview Terrace.   She volunteered at numerous charity events and was one who was always willing to help in any way that she could!

Those left to cherish her memory include her children:  Eric Straw (Sadie Sheldon) of Percival, IA, Ashley Campbell (Daniel) of Syracuse, NE and Tiffany Taylor (Gary) of Shenandoah, IA; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; her father Richard “Rick” Straw of Nebr. City, NE; siblings:  Teddy Christiansen (Sharon) of Nebr. City, NE, Karie Warland (Joe) of Ft. Dodge, IA, Bryant Lee Straw (Mercy) of Nebr. City, NE and Bryanna Prudhome (Jim) of Shenandoah, IA; other family and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her mother Sandra Straw on Nov. 24, 2013; grandson Zachery Campbell; siblings:  Richard D. Straw and Susan M. Holme; nieces Brittany Powell and Beth Warland; nephew Andy D. Lewis; great-nephew Nathan Kahler and beloved friend David Briley.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday (7/8) at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Church in Nebraska City with Pastor Keith Valenzuela officiating.   Burial will follow in the Wyuka Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City.
