Opal M. (Bescheinen) Conner

Opal M. Conner, age 95 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the Ambassador in Nebr. City.

Opal May Conner was born on June 9, 1928 in Otoe, NE; the daughter of William John and Ella Catherine (Wiebusch) Bescheinen.  She grew up in the Otoe area and graduated from Dunbar High School. 

She was united in marriage to Walter H. Conner and to this union a son, Walter Dean, was born.  He joined three half-sisters:  Delilah, Wendy and Mary.

Opal worked at the lunch counter at the former Hesteds, Newberries, and Fraziers Department Stores.  She then worked at St. Mary’s Hospital for some 30 years in Housekeeping Dept.  She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son Dean Conner of Nebr. City, NE; two step-daughters:  Wendy Pettijohn  of Cedar Creek, NE and Mary Conner of Glenwood, IA; four grandchildren:  Amy Shimmel (Chris), Brian Conner, Travis Conner (Julie) and Justin Conner; 8 great-grandchildren; four siblings:  John Bescheinen of Union, NE, Bill Bescheinen of Union, NE, Bob Bescheinen of Otoe, NE and Betty Rodaway of Illinois; other family and friends.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband Walter H. Conner on June 19, 1963; step-daughter Delilah Laue; her parents and brother Calvin Bescheinen.

Family Funeral Services will be held and burial will be in Otoe (Union) Cemetery near Otoe, NE.
