Mona L. Honea

Mona L. Honea, age 61 of Shenandoah, IA passed away on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Accura HealthCare in Shenandoah, IA.

Mona was born on July 18, 1962 at the Hamburg Hospital in Hamburg, IA; the daughter of James Henry Franklin Honea and Bessie Irene (Miller) Honea.  She grew up and attended school and later earned her G.E.D.; something that she was very proud of.

She was united in marriage to James Dean Judy on July 30, 1980 in Mound City, MO and to this union two children were born:  Rose and Cody.  The couple would later divorce after 18 years of marriage.  

Mona worked at Schoonover’s in Mound City, MO for several years and later at Earl May Nursery in Shenandoah, IA for some 20 years.   She was a loving mom, grandma, sister and friend to many. 

Those left to cherish her memory include her children:  Rose Judy and fiancé Mitchell Madron of Shenandoah, IA and Cody Judy and wife Victoria of Shenandoah, IA; five grandchildren:  Sean Kellogg, Micheal Pritchett, Amelia Judy, James Judy and M.J. Madron; siblings:  James Honea of Grove, OK, Peggy Acosta (Joe) of Kyle, TX, Mike Honea of Beatrice, NE, Irene Henning of Westboro, MO and Debbie Honea of Shenandoah, IA; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be directed to the family in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.  Mona will be laid to rest next to her parents at the Riverton Cemetery, Riverton, IA.
