Michael Paul Whitwell

Michael P. Whitwell, age 70 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Michael Paul Whitwell was born on January 5, 1956 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Ivan Paul and Virginia Lee (Luick) Whitwell.  He grew up and attended school in Nebraska City, graduating from Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1974.  After high school he worked different odd jobs before entering the United States Air Force on February 28, 1978.  He honorably served his country until his discharge on February 27, 1982. 

In 1991 he moved back to Nebraska City from Copperas Cove, TX.  He worked at American Meter, did construction jobs and most recently worked at Winn Rack. 

Michael is survived by his long-time companion and soulmate Susan Kind.  They shared 39 years together. He enjoyed classic cars and Harley Motorcycles.

He is also survived by his step-father Ken Kreig; his half-brother Matthew Whitwell; other family and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his dad Paul Whitwell, his mother Virginia Kreig and sister Paula Scharp.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Military Honors conducted by Offutt Air Force Base Funeral Honors Detail. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.

Memorials may be given to the family for future designation.
