Matiana Aldana Obituary

Matiana Aldana, age 104 of Nebraska City, NE was called home on January 1, 2024 at the Ambassador in Nebr. City.

Matiana was born on February 25, 1919 in Kansas City, MO; the daughter of Pedro and Nicolasa (Gomez) Aldana.  She was baptized on March 16, 1919 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Kansas City.  Her faith was always an important part of her life.  Following the death of her parents at a young age, Matiana moved to Mexico to be cared for by family.  She was three years old.

As a young woman, she married and her and her husband had three children:  son, Efren Aldana and daughters:  Angelina and Elvira.  Her husband preceded her in death at a young age.  Matiana then met and married Adolfo Aldana Perez in 1944.  They were blessed with seven children:  Carmela, Enrique, Pedro, Adolfo, Rogelio, Teresa and Jose.  In 1972, following the death of her husband Adolfo, Matiana made the decision to move back to the United States seeking a safer, better life for her children.  After a long journey, Matiana’s family made Nebraska City their home.

Matiana worked at an orchard and a nursey in Hamburg, IA and the sewing factory, the beef plant, and Stephenson’s Motel in Nebraska City.  She carried her love of gardening and raising flowers into her work.  Matiana was a hard worker and instilled that value in her children.  She was a loving mother who always placed the needs of her children before her own.  She was gentle and yet had the strength to work hard and ensure a great life for her family.

Matiana was a woman of faith and raised her children to love God and the Blessed Mother.  She began each day with prayer and then ended each day with praying the Rosary as a family.  In her later years, she walked to Mass every day.  Our hearts are grateful for those who watched over her and gave her rides home.  She spent the final years of her life at the Ambassador in Nebr. City.  Her family holds a special place in their hearts for those who provided her with love and care.

She is survived by her children:  Elvira Aldana de Gonzales, Angela Manriquez, Carmela (Philip) Buttercase, Enrique (Debra) Aldana, Pedro (Alejandra) Aldana, Rogelio (Estela) Aldana, Adolfo (Kelly) Aldana, Teresa (Santos) Marquez and Jose (Paula) Aldana; grandchildren:  Hermelinda, Tomas, Miguel, Luis, Margarita, Pedro, Angelica, Janeth, Irma, Aracely, Francisco, German, Maribel, Victor, Mary Guadalupe Aldana, Francisco Aldana, Efren Aldana Jr., Jose Alfredo Aldana, Antonia Aldana, Ana Maria Aldana, Nicholas Aldana, Ricardo Aldana, Stephen Buttercase, Joe Buttercase, Lana Johnson, Enrique Aldana Jr., Tommy Aldana, Bobbie Jo Aldana, Amy Aldana, Carlos Aldana, Juan Aldana, Rosita Krauel, Marco Aldana, Alex Aldana, Erica Aldana, Santos Marquez Jr., Marcos Marquez, Manuel Marquez, Mercedes Marquez, Ashlee Miller, Adam Aldana, Aaron Aldana, Andrew Aldana and Aidan Aldana and their spouses; other family and friends.
