Mary Boerner Obituary

Mary A. Boerner, age 71 of Lincoln, NE (formerly Nebr. City and Syracuse) passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln.

Mary Ann Boerner was born on November 17, 1954 in Nebraska City, NE; the daughter of Dale E. and Mardell M. (Birkman) Seybert.  She grew up and attended school in Nebraska City, graduating from Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1973.  She then attended Peru State College.

On March 17, 1974, Mary was united in marriage to Timothy Fred Boerner at Bethel Church of Christ in Nebr. City and to this union two children were born:  Mamie and Michael.

Shortly after her marriage, Mary began working at the former LT&T (Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph) Phone Company in Nebraska City as an Operator.  She later worked for the company as a Customer Service Representative in Lincoln, NE.  She retired from the phone company after 30 years of dedicated service.   After retirement, Mary worked for the Syracuse Public Schools as a Paraeducator.   She was a long-time member of the Communication Workers of America Union.

Mary loved to travel with her family. From vacations to California and the Grand Canyon when she was a girl, to fishing trips in Canada with her dad and the Seybert’s where you could catch her singing along to the Steve Miller Band on the drive up.  Having adventures watching the bears at the dump or multiple attempts to use a canoe.  Later in life she enjoyed visiting various parts of the East Coast to see Mike, and falling in love with the Outer Banks and the wild horses there.

She is survived by her children: Mamie Boerner and Michael Boerner both of Lincoln, NE; brother Alan (Angela) Seybert of Omaha, NE and a sister Julie (Jim) Laughlin of Omaha, NE; her beloved dog Sam and granddogs; other family and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Tim on December 4, 2016; her parents Dale and Mardell Seybert and her father and mother-in-law Ralph and Marge Boerner.
