Martin P. "Marty" Daffer

Martin P. ”Marty” Daffer, age 84 of rural Dunbar, NE (formerly Nebr. City) passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at the VA Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Martin Paul Daffer was born on September 25, 1941 in Kansas City, MO; the son of Gerald and Delores (Huffman) Daffer.

Marty served in the United States Marine Corp.  He entered on his seventeenth birthday, September 25, 1958 and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge on August 5, 1959.

He was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Carol Mead on August 25, 1963 at the United Methodist Church in Nebraska City and to this union two sons were born:  Chad and Jay.  She preceded him in death on October 20, 1997.

Marty worked for Midwest Construction (Bob Knisley) and in 1974 started MarCar Grave Service, digging graves in the area for many years.

He is survived by his sons: Chad Daffer (Julie) of Omaha, NE and Jay Daffer (Roxie) of Percival, IA; four granddaughters: Taylor Daffer, Morgan Daffer, Mackenzie Daffer-Welch and Jaden Daffer; half-sister Joy Huffman of Bennett, NE; other family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Marty was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary and sister Judy.

A Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City with burial to follow.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
