Margaret A. Egger, 76 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on July 15, 2024 in Nebr. City.
Margaret Ann Egger was born on October 26, 1947 in Tecumseh, NE; the daughter of Gerald Ray and Lydia Elizabeth (Thiesfeld) Egger. Margaret grew up on a farm near Douglas with her two sisters. She helped with farm chores but especially liked to be in the kitchen cooking or baking something. She participated in the local 4-H, dairy club, and even won a purebred Brown Swiss heifer named Jose. Ice skating, volleyball, art, and reading were her favorite activities, of course, she was a Husker fan too! She attended school and graduated from the Douglas High School with the Class of 1965. She then attended Peru State College where she earned her Bachelors Degree in Education in 1969.
Margaret did her student teaching in Tecumseh, NE and later taught at Friend, NE and Spring Creek Country School. She later taught at Baker Country School west of Nebraska City for a few years before beginning her career as a cashier at both Normans and Country Mart Grocery Stores in Nebraska City, NE.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was very active in the church.
She is survived by her sister Mary L. Lade and husband Steven of Douglas, NE, brother-in-law Rodger Tomasek of Lincoln, NE; five nieces and nephews and four great nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Gerald and Lydia and a sister Jean Marie Tomasek.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Nebraska City.
A private family interment will be held at a later date.
