Marcia Rae Gruber

Marcia R. Gruber, age 70 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Saturday morning; March 28, 2026 at her home.

Marcia Rae Gruber was born on December 16, 1955 in Lincoln, NE and was adopted shortly after her birth by her parents Raymond Arthur and Shirley Mae (Joiner) Gruber.  She attended Lourdes Central Catholic School in her younger years and then transferred to Nebraska City Public School her freshman year.  She continued her education at Nebraska City High School and graduated from the Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1974.  She then went to Brazil where she was an exchange student for a year.

Marcia owned and operated Quality Oil Company in Ashland, NE for several years.  In 1989, she began her career at the Otoe County Sheriff's Office where she worked for some 11 years.  She later worked as a Security Guard at Cooper Nuclear Power Plant (NPPD) until her retirement in 2007.

She is survived by her three sons:  Brandon Vaughan of Nebraska City, Jason Vaughan (Pho Chanthavong) of Nebraska City and Nikolas Kraenow (Courtney Summerfield) of Rainsville, AL; seven grandchildren:  Dylan Edwards, Braedy Vaughan, Brendon Vaughan, Hailey Vaughan, Zoey Vaughan, Declan Boyle and Skylar Kraenow; three brothers:  Dan Gruber (Jody) of Syracuse, NE, Robin Gruber (Shelly) of Dallas, TX and Jayme Gruber (Tammy) of Lincoln, NE; nieces and nephews: Hannah Gruber, Hunter Gruber, Shannan Gruber, Charity Reeves, Alysha Gruber, KC Gruber and Jenna Sontag, other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Raymond A. Gruber in 1993 and her mother Shirley M. Gruber in 2017.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Pastor Terry Weible officiating.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Gude Mortuary.
