Lynda Rae (Oetken) Ferguson

Lynda R. Ferguson, age 79 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
 
Lynda was born on October 28, 1941 in Cook, NE; the daughter of Roy and Leora (Rugha) Oetken.  She grew up and attended school in Cook; graduating from Cook High School with the Class of 1959.
 
On June 24, 1960, Lynda was united in marriage to Robert M. Ferguson in Lincoln, NE and to this union three children were born:  Dan, Kenny and Angie.  In addition to raising her family, she worked at Pendleton Woolen Mills and then helped at the family business, Bob’s Lifeguard Muffler.  Lynda also took floral design classes and worked at First Class Flowers. Lynda was very involved with English to Spanish learning and helping to improve communication with those in her community. She believed that people should always learn and grow, no matter what their age or background. She enjoyed playing the piano and many crafts and was a member of various clubs.
 
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Robert Ferguson of Nebr. City; children:  Dan Ferguson and wife Paula, Kenny Ferguson and wife Robyn and Angie Lant and husband Jeff all of Nebr. City; nine grandchildren:  Kyle Ferguson and wife Carrie of Nebr. City, Derek Ferguson and wife Jessica of Lincoln, NE, Andrew Ferguson of Lincoln, NE, Erin Butler and husband Don of Lincoln, NE, Abbie Ferguson of Lincoln, NE, Kristi Lant of Lincoln, NE, Becky Reafleng and husband Bryant of Jacksonville, NC, Wynter Vollman and husband Jacob of Nebr. City and Alyssa Lant of Nebr. City; one “honorary” grandson: Juan Fernandez and wife Hannah of St. Louis, MO; six great-grandchildren:  Landon and Addison Ferguson, Traynor and Brooklyn Ferguson, Noah Juilfs and Persephone Butler; sisters-in-law:  Frances Williams of Newnan, GA, Kate Oetken of Apache Junction, AZ and Frances Oetken of Glenwood, IA; other family and friends.
 
Lynda was preceded in death by her parents and brothers:  Robert and Tom Oetken.
