Loran Wayne Shepherd

Loran Wayne Shepherd Sr., age 89 of Tabor, IA passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at his home.

Loran was born on October 24, 1931 in Hamburg, IA; the youngest of two sons born to Henry and Teresa (Spragg) Shepherd.

As a young man he met and married Phyllis Voges of Nebraska City and to this union two sons were born:  Loran Wayne Jr. and James Stephen.  After the passing of his wife, Loran married Joyce Eleanor Sharp and to this union two daughters were born:  Candace Suzanne and Lorrie Janean.

Loran had a long fulfilling life, including traveling west to the mountains and working and retiring after 33 years from Swift Packing.  He was employed with Carriage Cleaners in Bellevue, NE and served the Fremont Mills School District as a bus driver for many years.

Loran always enjoyed auctions and farm sales where he met and made many friends.

Loran was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Teresa, his older brother Henry James, his wife Phyllis and his daughter Lorrie.

He is survived by his two sons:  Wayne and (Susan) of Tabor, IA and Jim and (Deborah) of Thurman, IA; daughter Candy Johnson of Red Oak, IA; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many friends.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City.
