Larry D. Gillespie

Larry D. Gillespie, age 72 of Sidney, IA (formerly Nebraska City, NE) passed away at his home on Tuesday morning, May 28, 2024.

He was born on October 12, 1951 in Omaha, NE; the son of Dean J. and Doris June (Walker) Gillespie.  He attended school and graduated from the Nebraska City High School in 1971.  He entered the United States Army on January 31, 1972 and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on January 23, 1974.

He was united in marriage to Mary S. Reed on March 2, 1984 in Nebraska City.

Larry worked on various construction projects over the years.  He was a long-time employee of Oakview Construction of Red Oak, IA and a member of the Shenandoah American Legion.

He leaves behind his loving wife Mary of Sidney, IA and other family and friends.

Graveside Services will be held Friday; May 31, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sidney Cemetery, Sidney, IA.  Military honors will be conveyed by the Shenandoah American Legion Post, Shenandoah, IA.

Memorials may be directed to the Shenandoah American Legion Honor Guard.
