Kenneth L. Winkler, age 83 of rural Sidney, IA passed away on January 12, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family.
Kenneth Laverne Winkler was born on January 25, 1938 in Nebraska City, NE; the son of Leonard Lawrence and Gladys Marie (Hawk) Winkler. He attended school in Tabor, IA through the third grade at which time the family moved to Missouri. He later attended Central High School in Springfield, MO where he graduated with the Class of 1957.
He was united in marriage to Barbara K. (Carlson) Neal on August 14, 1975 at Hamburg, IA and they shared over 46 years of their lives together.
Kenny served in the Iowa National Guard (Glenwood Unit). He was a life-long farmer, a job that he dearly loved.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of rural Sidney, IA; a son Terry Neal (Rebecca) of Ankeny, IA; a godson Rory Glenn (Angelina) of Sidney, IA and their children Aiden and Leila Glenn; five grandchildren: Haley Neal of Ankeny, IA, Adam Neal of Greenville, SC, Noah Neal, Cole Whitaker and Riley Whitaker all of Ankeny, IA; sisters: Lois Anderson of San Antonio, TX and Jane Dwornicki (Frank) of Omaha, NE; other extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother Willis Winkler, step-brother Freeman Bertelsen as well as his parents.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday (1/22) at 11:00 a.m. at the United Faith Church in Sidney, IA with Pastor Leah Elrod officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Sidney Cemetery with military honors.
The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at United Faith Church in Sidney on Saturday (1/22).
