Kathy M. (Angelo) Moreland

Kathy M. (Angelo) Moreland, age 66 of Sidney, IA (formerly Riverton) passed away on July 6, 2024 in Omaha, NE. 

Kathy was born on June 15, 1958 in Omaha, NE; the daughter of Norris Neal and Francis Nadine Angelo.

She married Michael Leroy Moreland on July 3, 1976.  The couple later divorced in 1993 but remained close friends. 

They operated (her mostly) the Waterfowl Café in Riverton for some 34 years.  She suffered from Nasal Sarcoma (cancer) of the sinuses, which were removed along with her nose.  Later, she suffered a heart attack, resulting in a heart pump for seven years, before receiving a heart transplant.  The cancer eventually claimed her life after a little over three years.

Kathy will be remembered fondly by many nieces, nephews, other family and all her many friends, especially her Café family, whom she loved dearly.  She will also be missed by her cats, who were like children.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers:  Kerry Angelo, Thomas Wakefield, Donald Wakefield and sister Brenda Angelo.

She is survived by special friend Micheal Moreland of Sidney, IA and her siblings:  Larry Wakefield (Judy) of Omaha, NE, Linda Bower of Carter Lake, IA, Laureen Angelo of Carter Lake, IA, Lori Jean Byerly of California, Gary Lee Angelo of Omaha, NE and William Neil Angelo of Omaha, NE; other family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Riverton Community Building in Riverton, IA.

Memorials may be given to the family in her memory.
