Katharina H. (Hobmaier) Behrends

Katharina Behrends, age 87 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on May 25, 2026, at the Ambassador in Nebr. City.

Katharina Behrends was born on March 11, 1939, in Germany; the daughter of Vitus and Katharina (Koegl) Hobmaier.

She was united in marriage to Allan Mark Behrends and they had four children: Jimmy, Diana, Donnie and Duane.  In addition to raising her family, Katherine worked at Morton House Kitchens and The Embers.

Katherina was a devout member of the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall and enjoyed spreading their message.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children Diana (Merle) Pieper of Plattsmouth, NE, Donnie Behrends of Nebr. City, NE and Duane (Kerri) Behrends of Nebr. City, NE; eleven grandchildren: Travis Hulse, Jared Olis, Stephanie Sedlacek, Patrick (Tori) Greenlee, Benjamin Greenlee, Joshua Greenlee, Cody Wagner, Sydney Behrends, Shannon Behrends, Jamie Behrends and Desiree Behrends; numerous great-grandchildren; siblings: Erich (Kathi) Hobmaier and George “Schorsch” (Monika) Hobmaier; sister-in-law Erna Hobmaier; nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

Katharina was preceded in death by son Jimmy Behrends; her parents and brother Josef “Sepp” Hobmaier.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebr. City.
