Karen Kay (Wells) Michel

Karen K. Michel, age 85 of rural Northboro, IA passed away on August 31, 2023 at the Ambassador in Sidney, IA.

Karen was born on March 20, 1938 in Pasadena, CA; the daughter of Paul and Dorothy M. (Pierce) Wells.

She was united in marriage to Harry Donovan Michel on July 3, 1954 at the United Methodist Church in Farragut, IA.

Karen was a homemaker and a farm wife and worked alongside her husband Don for many years.  She also took care of several elderly family members as their health began to fail.   She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and friend to many, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her children:  Diane Foster and husband Ed, Mike Michel and wife Deb, and Sonia Athen and husband Bob all of the Northboro area; ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, other extended family and many friends.

She was preceded in death and welcomed home by her husband Don on September 9, 2011, her son Brent Michel, grandchildren:  Brooke Michel, Derek Athen and Cole Michel, a great-grandson Greyson Harskamp and her brother Roger Wells.

Private family services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Northboro with Pastor Fritz Brandenburg officiating and she will be laid to rest next to her late husband Donovan.

A Memorial Fund is being established in her memory.
