Karen A. (Singer) Juel, age 87 of Nebraska City, NE passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at the Ambassador in Nebr. City.
Karen Ailene Juel was born on June 21, 1938 in Wagner, SD; the daughter of Theodore Henry and Violetta Ruth (Griffey) Singer.
She was united in marriage to Louis Juel on March 22, 1954 in Hill City, SD and to this union six children were born: Leland, Carl, Pamela, Janice, Nadine and Joreen. He preceded her in death in 1993.
In addition to raising her family, Karen was a Quilter extraordinaire. She made numerous quilts over the years (too many to count)! She also was an avid reader and enjoyed working on puzzles.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Leland Juel (Mary) of Lawrence, KS, Carl Juel of Clarke Fork, ID, Pamela Nemec (James) of Nebraska City, NE, Janice Karsten of Ephrata, PA and Nadine Maruska of Norfolk, NE; 12 grandchildren: Heather Walters, Adriane Madsen, Nathan Juel, Lynn Buehler, Drew Karsten, Derek Karsten, Brady Maruska, Cassie Moore, Anthony Nemec, Joreen Nemec, Evan Nemec and Jared Nemec; 18 great-grandchildren; other family and friends.
In addition to her husband, Karen was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter Joreen, brothers: Dwayne Hungate, Verlin Singer and Juiles Singer and numerous brothers and sisters in law.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday; May 26, 2026 at St. Ann’s Cemetery at Lexington, NE. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Louis.
